Glad to see that you found my story of picking up the
delivery on 27months.com. It
was a small adventure in and of itself. On behalf of everyone
at the Teachers' Resource Centre, Buea let me say "thank
you" again for the donation! We would have been happy
to have Windows and/or Office alone so you can imagine our excitement
at finding twenty titles in the box.
VP has already created a stir and generated a lot of interest
in the community. At the moment I have a small number of
existing students evaluating them before we implement a full
self-paced training program. My star pupil is Simon who
at 18 is diving into the HTML course with nothing more than my
basic Windows training under his belt. I was amazed to
see a young Cameroonian new to computers just a short time ago
coding web pages in his second lesson. He now comes to
the TRC with me daily and applies himself for hours on end. I
thought his eyes would pop out of his head when I told him we'd
publish his pages on the Internet when he'd completed the course. Only
this weekend Simon's family thanked me by giving me a live fowl
and fresh avocados from their tree. It was especially touching
since they are desperately poor. I think you deserve an
equal share.
I'd like to give you a more complete report with some photos
in the coming weeks. In the meantime I've attached a photo
of the TRC. I am very hopeful that your donation will change
a lot of lives here in the South West.
Best regards,
